Product research

Mobile workflow research questions

Understand which tasks people attempt on a phone and where screen size, interruptions, or missing context make those tasks difficult.

Who to ask
Users who have tried the product on a mobile device.
When to ask
Soon after a mobile session or during a focused usability study.

Questions to adapt

  1. What were you trying to do on your phone?
  2. Where were you when you tried?
  3. Which step was hardest?
  4. Did you switch to a computer?
  5. What should be easier to finish on mobile?

Use the answers

Prioritize complete mobile tasks instead of shrinking every desktop screen equally. Investigate steps that cause device switching and test revised controls with real touch input and narrow screens.

Keep the research useful

Do not assume every desktop task must be available on a phone. Confirm the context and frequency of the mobile need.

Collect the feedback in Formkii

Start a short survey with a clear introduction and a consistent reference period. Use choice questions where you need comparable categories and open text where the explanation matters. Preview the survey with someone who understands the task, then share the published link with the relevant participants. Review written answers alongside response counts, and export to CSV if you need to group themes in a spreadsheet.
